Acknowledgment of Risk

I understand that climbing, bouldering, belaying, rappelling, climbing-wall activities, and related activities involve inherent and potentially serious risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Falls from height or onto climbing surfaces;

  • Falling rocks, equipment, or other objects;

  • Failure or misuse of ropes, harnesses, carabiners, anchors, climbing holds, or other equipment;

  • Equipment failure, including failure caused by improper use, wear, or defects;

  • Collisions with walls, structures, other participants, or objects;

  • Slips, trips, and falls;

  • Injuries caused by another participant's actions or negligence;

  • Serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis, or death;

  • Other risks that may not be reasonably foreseeable.

I understand that climbing requires physical ability, attention, judgment, and compliance with safety rules and instructions.

Assumption of Risk

I voluntarily choose to participate in climbing and related activities. I understand and accept the inherent risks associated with these activities and voluntarily assume responsibility for the risks of injury, property damage, or other loss arising from my participation, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Release and Waiver of Claims

In consideration for being permitted to participate in climbing activities, I agree, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, to release and discharge the climbing facility, organization, event operator, instructors, guides, employees, volunteers, owners, officers, directors, agents, and affiliated parties from claims arising out of my participation in the activities, including claims for personal injury, property damage, or death, except to the extent that such claims cannot legally be waived or released under applicable law.

This release is intended to apply to claims arising from the inherent risks of climbing and, where legally permissible, from the ordinary negligence of the released parties.

Nothing in this agreement is intended to waive, release, or limit any right or claim that cannot legally be waived, released, or limited under applicable law.

Safety Rules

I agree to:

  1. Follow all posted safety rules and instructions provided by staff, instructors, guides, or event organizers.

  2. Use climbing equipment only as instructed and for its intended purpose.

  3. Inspect my equipment when required and report damaged or questionable equipment immediately.

  4. Not participate while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or any substance that could affect my judgment or physical ability.

  5. Stop participating if I believe conditions are unsafe or if I am unable to participate safely.

  6. Follow all applicable belaying, spotting, bouldering, rappelling, and climbing procedures.

  7. Inform staff or organizers of any relevant physical limitations or conditions that may affect my ability to participate safely.

Medical Treatment Authorization

In the event of an emergency, I authorize the activity operator and/or its representatives to seek reasonable emergency medical assistance for me when necessary. I understand that I am responsible for my own medical expenses and that this authorization does not create an obligation to provide medical treatment.

Personal Property

I understand that I am responsible for my personal belongings and that the activity operator is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property except where responsibility cannot legally be excluded.
